(Walnut, CA) A furious fourth-quarter comeback by the visiting L.A. Trade Tech Beavers fell short, 64-54, in a South Coast Conference North game Monday (Jan. 27).

With the win, the CCCAA State No. 8 Mounties improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in the SCC.

Sophomore guard Remy Hare (6-17 FGM, 4-6 FTM, 5 Asst., 3 Stls, 2 Blks) led the Mounties with 16 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.

The 20 boards by Hare were by far the most by a Mountie this season. Hare's previous high this season was only seven.

Freshman guard Taylor Shelby (5-13 FGM, 2-7 3PM, 1-2 FTM) added 13 off the bench, while Skylarr Little (4-5 FGM, 4 RB, 2 Blks.) and Ashton Hudson (2-6 FGM, 3-3 FTM, 5 RB, 2 Blks.) scored eight and seven points, respectively for the Mounties.

The Mounties built up a 15-point, 45-30, lead with 6:28 left in the third quarter, but Trade Tech went on a 12-4 run through the end of the quarter to trial by seven, 49-42.

The Beavers continued the run through the first four minutes of the final quarter with a 10-2 run and took their first lead since early in the game, 52-51.

But, a five-minute scoring drought by Trade Tech and a 9-0 run by the Mounties, all but sealed the victory.

Hare, in that span, was active at the defensive end with four boards, and along with Lauryn Manns (2-4 FGM, 2-4 FTM, 4 RB) and Shelby each sank a basket for the, 60-52 lead with 1:38 left.

Mt. SAC will host rival East L.A. for a SCC North game Friday (Jan. 31). Game time is 5:00 pm
