A new era of Mt. SAC Tennis will begin in Spring of 2021 when Lee Shiomoto takes over as Mt. SAC's Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach in the new Mt. SAC Tennis Facility.

(Walnut, CA) 2021 will mark a new era in Mt. SAC Tennis with the arrival of Lee Shiomoto, who has been named head tennis coach.  Shiomoto will lead both the men's and women's teams after a 1-year hiatus.  He will become the first tennis coach in the new on-campus Mt. SAC Tennis Facility, adjacent (west) to Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

"We are extremely fortunate to have gained the services of Lee Shiomoto," replied Mt. SAC Director of Athletics, Joe Jennum.  "Lee is a very well respected coach, teacher and member of the community, who we will depend upon to guide our tennis program out of hiatus and into our new state-of-the-art tennis facility."

Veteran Shiomoto has been a staple in the local community, serving the area for over 30 years.  He has directed the Walnut High School Boys and Girls Tennis Program, including the Walnut Summer Tennis Camp Program for the past 17 years and has taught at Suzanne Middle School for the past 30 years.

"I am super excited to coach tennis at Mt. SAC and at the community college level," replied Shiomoto.  "I thank Mt. SAC for reaching out and giving me this fantastic opportunity.  Let's Go Mounties!"

During his time with the Mustangs, he has guided his teams to 10 consecutive undefeated Hacienda League Championships, two CIF Finals appearances (Girls Division IV – 2004, Girls Division III – 2016) and one CIF Division II semi-final appearance with the boys in 2019.

In 2006, he was named East San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year.

Shiomoto received his bachelor's degree from San Jose State University and his Master's of Science Degree in Sport Management from Cal Poly Pomona.
