Veteran coach Lee Shiomoto joins the Mounties as the new Head Men's and Women’s Tennis Coach.  Shiomoto has spent the past 17 years as head coach of both, boys and girls, JV and varsity tennis teams at Walnut High School and also oversaw the Walnut Summer Tennis Camp Program.

“I am super excited to coach tennis at Mt. SAC and at the community college level,” replied Shiomoto.  “I thank Mt. SAC for reaching out and giving me this fantastic opportunity.  Let’s Go Mounties!”

Shiomoto guided the Mustangs to 10 consecutive Hacienda League Undefeated League Titles as well as guiding Walnut to two CIF Final appearances (Girls Division IV – 2004, Girls Division III – 2016) and one CIF Division II semi-final appearance with the boys in 2019.

In 2006, he was named East San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year.

Shiomoto has also served the students of the Walnut Unified School District for over 30 years as a physical education instructor and coach at Suzanne Middle School.  Through the years, he has served the Challengers as the head coach of numerous sports, as well as Athletics Director.     

Shiomoto received his bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and his Master’s of Science Degree in Sport Management from Cal Poly Pomona.

He is happily married with four wonderful children.  In his off-time, he enjoys golfing and traveling.
