Where Champions Compete: Track & Field Athletes Descend on Hilmer Lodge Stadium for 2025 Mt. SAC Relays

Walnut, Calif. -- The 2025 Mt. SAC Relays are once again set to deliver one of the most thrilling track & field events in the nation. Taking place at the iconic Hilmer Lodge Stadium, this year’s meet will feature incredible talent across high school, collegiate, and elite divisions. With national leaders, Olympians, and rising stars in the lineup, spectators can expect record-breaking performances and unforgettable moments on one of the sport’s most prestigious stages.

Among the standout high school athletes, Brandon Arrington Jr. of Mount Miguel High School leads the charge in the sprints. The reigning California State Champion is the national leader in both the 100 meters (10.24) and 200 meters (20.35) and is expected to put on a show. The Servite High School boys’ 4x100 meter relay team has already made history, clocking a blistering 40.00—a new California all-time state record and the fastest time in the nation. Composed entirely of underclassmen—Jorden Wells, Benjamin Harris, Jaelen Hunter, and Robert Gardner—this squad is a prime example of the next generation’s potential.

In the distance relays, Herriman High School in Utah is targeting a national record in the boys’ 4x800 meter relay with a strong team of Tayshaun Ogomo, Zeke Kearney, Noah Manwaring, and Jackson Spencer. Meanwhile, Long Beach Wilson’s girls’ 4x400 meter relay, featuring Brooke Blue, Alene Washington, Kaylin Edwards, and Saniah Varnado, enters the meet ranked third in the nation with a time of 3:39.60.

Carlsbad’s Makenna Herbst, one of the top middle-distance runners in the country, brings a stellar 800-meter mark of 2:04.72, while her sister Morgan Herbst is ranked No. 2 nationally in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.26. Hurdler Anisa Bowen-Fontenot from San Diego is a dual threat, leading the nation in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.16 and ranking third nationally in the 300-meter hurdles at 41.26.

In the field events, Phoenix Country Day’s Sam Novak enters with a personal best of 17” 1.75” in the pole vault, placing him fourth nationally. Camren Smith from Quartz Hill ranks fourth in the triple jump at 49’ 6”, and Long Beach Poly’s Jillene Wetteland holds the No. 2 spot nationally in the high jump with a clearance of 5’ 10”.

The throws are equally impressive. McKay Madsen of Clovis North is a national top-five performer in both the shot put (65’ 8”, No. 4) and discus (211’ 6”, No. 3). Jaslene Massey of Aliso Niguel is ranked third in the country in shot put with a mark of 50’ 7”, while Su’Riah Williams of Redlands holds the No. 1 national ranking in the discus with a throw of 173’ 3”.

At the collegiate level, the Mt. SAC Relays will feature several NCAA leaders and national champions. University of Washington’s Amanda and Hana Moll, twin sisters and pole vault standouts, headline the women’s field. Amanda, the reigning NCAA Indoor Champion, owns a world-leading and NCAA record mark of 16’ 1.25”, while Hana follows closely at 15’ 9.25”. Their teammate Scott Toney leads the men’s pole vault field with a personal best of 18’ 4.50”, achieved at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational.

In the sprints, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu of South Florida tops the NCAA rankings in the 100 meters with a scorching 9.87. On the women’s side, USC’s Madison Whyte leads the 200 meters nationally with a time of 22.32. The men’s and women’s hammer throw competitions are stacked, featuring five of the nation’s top 10 collegiate athletes in each division and the javelin will bring together the nation’s top collegiate and elite throwers.

The elite division reads like a who’s who of international track and field royalty. British hurdler Tade Ojora, who represented Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics and is a multi-time British champion, returns with a personal best of 13.16 in the 110-meter hurdles. In the women’s hurdles, Kendra Harrison (Adidas) brings an elite resume that includes a world record in the 100-meter hurdles (12.20), a 2018 World Indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles, as well as Olympic and World Championship silver medals.

Middle-distance star Craig Engels (Nike), the 2019 U.S. National Champion in the 1500 meters (3:35.79), will compete in the 800 meters. Jenna Prandini (Puma), a two-time Olympian and gold medalist in the 4x100m relay at the 2022 World Championships, is scheduled to compete in both the 100m and 200m. Olympic and World Champion Camryn Rogers (Nike) is expected to headline the hammer throw after capturing gold at the 2024 Olympics and 2023 World Championships.

In the distance events, Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu (Nike) will run the 5,000 meters and anchor a 4x400m relay. Mu holds the American record in the 800 meters (1:54.97) and won Olympic gold in the Tokyo Olympics. Joining her in the 800m will be Raevyn Rogers (Nike), a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics and silver medalist at the 2019 World Championships, as well as Sammy Watson, a former World U20 Champion. The women’s 800m is shaping up to be one of the most exciting races of the meet.
