(Walnut, CA) Despite the impact of the Covid Pandemic, the Mt. SAC Athletics Facilities continue to grow and develop. With the completion of phase one of the Mt. SAC Athletics Complex East (Hilmer Lodge Stadium (classrooms, offices, teamrooms, locker rooms, weightrooms), practice field/track, flex field, tennis courts and Heritage Park), construction has begun on phase two, which includes the new aquatic complex, gymnasium and Heritage Hall facilities.
“These new Athletics Complex East Projects will continue to elevate our Mt. SAC Athletics Facilities to the highest level, supporting our students and helping them to learn and be successful,” replied Mt. SAC Dean/Director of Athletics Joe Jennum. “We appreciate the support of everyone within our district, the Board of Trustees and our college administration!”
The Aquatics Complex will feature a 59 meter Olympic Pool with seating for 2,500 and a teaching/diving facility. The Gymansium will feature a main court with seating for 1,500, auxiliary court floor and will also house the Wellness Center, which along with the fitness facilities, will also include an indoor running track.
Heritage Hall will be the outreach facility for Athletics. It will include an Education Center, Museum and Division of Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance Offices. The museum facility will showcase the history of Mt. SAC Athletics, Mt. SAC Athletic Special Events and the individuals who have helped write the long and storied history of Mt. SAC. The Education Center will feature a multi-use facility capable of hosting banquets, conferences and lectures.
Also included in this project is a multi-story parking structure with interconnecting bridge to the new facilities, located on the Southwest corner of Temple Avenue and Bonita Drive. Heritage Hall is scheduled for completion in early 2022, with the Aquatics and Gymnasium complexes set to open in late 2022.
