(Cerritos, CA) Despite Covid-19 shortened seasons, the Mt. SAC Athletics Program captured its 11th consecutive South Coast Conference (SCC) Athletic Supremacy Crown.  The Mounties fall and winter sports scored 114 points to take the title, edging out Long Beach City College with 111.

Mt. SAC captured SCC conference championships in Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Soccer and Women’s Basketball, as well as a conference championship in Football (Southern California Football Association National Division Central League) during the 2019-2020 season.

This years championship also marked the tenth consecutive SCC Athletic Supremacy Award for Director of Athletics, Joe Jennum and recently retired Associate Director of Athletics, Debbie Cavion.  The Mounties have never lost an Athletics Supremacy Title under the duos direction.

With the spring season cancelled abruptly after the second week of March, spring sports were not counted towards SCC Athletic Supremacy Award totals, however Mt. SAC sports were poised to take a few more conference titles.

Based solely on the performances before the spring season cancellation date, the Mountie Men’s Track & Field Team looked almost unbeatable and were on their way to a 13th state championship.  The women’s softball and track & field programs looked extremely promising at the state levels, the men's and women's swimming program were ready to defend their conference championships and the remaining spring sports all showed strong early season promise.

In the past 20 years, Mt. SAC has captured the prestigious award 14 times, Cerritos College five times (1 tie with Mt. SAC) and Long Beach City College three times.
