(Huntington Beach, CA) Many people go to Huntington Beach for the sand and surf, but not the Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team, which took first place there at the Golden West Central Classic on Friday. The Mounties posted 49 points and Saddleback (57 points) and Oxnard (77) finished second and third, respectively.
Deanna Diaz was the top finisher for the Mounties, placing seventh with a time of 20:44.7 in a field of 74 runners. Trista Michael (21:22.7), Torrie Freeman (22:09.0), Denise Rodriguez (22:36.9), and Allison Gutierrez (23:34.5) placed 12th, 20th, 25th, and 30th, respectively.
San Diego is the next beach destination for Mt. SAC as the team will compete in the San Diego Mesa Invite at NTC Park, Liberty Station at 9 a.m.
