(Brea, CA) Competing against 101 runners from 11 Club and University teams, Mt. SAC sophomore Rebecca Ruiz finished 11th in the Mark Covert 5K Classic hosted by Cal State University Fullerton on Saturday September 1.
The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team placed seventh.
Ruiz, who finished with a time of 19:22.4, was one of 14 Mounties entered in the event. As a team the average time was 20:27.
The next four finishers for points for the Mounties were: Sadie Encinas (33rd, 20:29.8), Montserrath Celis (34th, 20:34.2), Alyssa Amendariz (37th, 20:49.9) and Alyssa Cantrell (39th, 20:59.2).
Finishing sixth and seventh on the team was: Yesenia Flores (43rd, 21:24.0) and Evelyn Peratta (45th, 21:36.1).
The Women's Team will head north next Saturday September 8 for the Fresno Invitational at Woodland Park, site of the CCCAA State Championships in November.
