Mt. SAC Women’s Water Polo Stays Perfect in Conference with 10-5 Win Over Chaffey

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team put up a strong showing against Chaffey College with a 10-5 win on Wednesday, October 8. With the victory, the Mounties improve to 10-10 overall and a flawless 4-0 in conference competition, while the Panthers fall to 4-10 (0-4 SCC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mt. SAC struck early, with Nathaly Mora opening the scoring in the first 30 seconds. Though Chaffey responded with back-to-back goals to briefly take the lead, Ivy Cervantes powered the Mounties back with two goals of her own, giving Mt. SAC a 3-2 edge by the end of the first period.

The Mounties broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Chaffey 4-1. Mora added two more goals to complete her hat trick, while Angelina Hernandez and Jessica Luna each found the net to push the lead to 7-3 at halftime.

Both teams traded goals in the third, with Luna tallying her second of the game and Chaffey's Elise Camarena scoring to make it 8-4 heading into the final period.

Mt. SAC closed strong in the fourth with goals from Hernandez and Kaylee Biehn, sealing a comfortable 10-5 win.

Goalkeeping was a key part of the Mounties' success. Keira Bozek recorded 4 saves on 8 shots through three quarters, and Riley McPheron added 3 saves on 4 shots in the fourth to keep Chaffey at bay. Chaffey's Savannah Shaw made 4 saves on 14 shots in a full-game effort.
