Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Opens SCC Play With Win Over El Camino, Runs Win Streak to Three

(Walnut, CA) It took the Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team just 43 seconds to score its first goal against El Camino (0-2, 0-2) in a South Coast Conference matchup at the Mills Aquatic Facility on Wednesday. The Mounties (3-2, 1-0) scored often after that, coasting to an 11-4 win in their first SCC match of the season.

Mt. SAC's Emily Bermudez, who scored the first goal of the contest on an assist from Samantha Martinez, went on to finish with one goal and two assists on the day. Julia Bensing-Ruiz and Amber Bustamante added four and five goals, respectively, for the Mounties, while tallying four and five steals, also respectively.

Goalkeeper Victoria Streitenberger had two saves while allowing four goals for Mt. SAC.

Next up for Mt. SAC is a match with Orange Coast (2-6) in the opening round of the Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Classic on Friday, Sept. 27, at 12:40 p.m. The Mounties will also take on Crafton Hills (1-2) that same day at 4:10 p.m. Saturday's schedule includes matches against Grossmont (4-1) at 12:40 p.m. and East Los Angeles (0-1) at 4:10 p.m.
