(Ontario, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team finished the regular season with a marathon five-set, 3-2 win over host Chaffey College on Tuesday, to wrap up second place in the South Coast Conference North.

They finished ahead of Chaffey (4-4) with a 5-3 record and just behind Pasadena City College (6-2).

With the five-set win (20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 15-8) the Mounties evened their overall record at 13-13.

The Mounties won four of their last five SCC North matches, including the last four in a row and seven of their last nine.

"We're so proud of the team for really coming together to fight for the win and secure a second place finish in conference," Mt. SAC coach Ali Carey-Oliver said.

Outside hitter Alysha Tullar (1 Assist, 4 Ser. Aces, 7 Digs) and opposite Jessica Morse (4 Digs) led the Mounties with 20 and 16 kills, respectively.

Middle blocker Shaianne Palos (6 Digs) added 11 kills, while setter Brianda Valdez led the team with 28 assists and libero Malia Carr led with a match-high 25 digs.

"Alysha and Shai (Palos) hit near-perfect on Tuesday with only one error each and really set the tone for the squad," added Carey-Oliver. "Malia was a defensive machine and Brianda dished out the ball well. All five of our setters played and we saw assists from all of them."

CCCAA playoff match-ups will be announced Thursday 11-15 as the team awaits the announcement.

"Now we wait to see the outcome of other matches across the southern region and we will find out whether or not we make it to the playoffs," Carey-Oliver said.

"In or out of the playoffs, I'm proud of how this team fought all year and finished strong."
