(San Diego, CA) Second place isn't too shabby but for the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Track and Field team, it wasn't good enough. Second place is where the Mounties sat through the prelims round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Championships, but by the end of finals competition on Friday, May 12, at San Diego Mesa College, they'd claimed first place with 196 points. That bested South Coast Conference champion Cerritos College, which came in second with 144 points, while host SD Mesa finished third with 72.

On the day, Mt. SAC athletes took first in seven events, second in nine, and third in four.

First-place Mountie finishes came from Amari Weatherford (200 meters), Jaiden Hill (400 meters), Trista Michael (800 meters), Hannah Brown (10,000 meters), Aaliyah Mendoza (high jump), Summer Stevenson (triple jump), and the 4x400 relay team (Michael, Tatiana Sprock, Yasmeen Delgado, Hill).

Weatherford (100 meters), Hill (200 meters), Natalyn Membreno (800 meters), Cyvanna Bowen (100 hurdles), Karla Galvan (3000 steeplechase), Ahnyx Bush (long jump, triple jump), Sahira Lepes Sanchez (hammer), and the 4x100 relay team (Weatherford, Hill, Charisma Collins, Delaysia Allen) took second in their events for Mt. SAC.

Third-place Mountie performances included Sprock (400 meters), Brown (5000 meters), Bailie Horton (pole vault), and Stevenson (long jump).
