Mt. SAC women turn in top-10 finishes at UC San Diego and Cerritos meets

(San Diego, CA) At the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego on Friday and Saturday, several members of the Mt. SAC women's track and field team turned in noteworthy performances. A pair of Mounties also earned top-10 finishes at the Cerritos Invitational in Norwalk on Friday.

San Diego

In the pole vault, Darla Gonzalez cleared a height of 3.95 meters to place third.

With a time of 18:54.78, Montserrath Celis placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run, while teammate Rebecca Ruiz finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:36.32.

Kayla Rodriguez took ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.05.

Three Mounties finished in the top 10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, including Yesenia Flores (12:12.72) in sixth, Alyssa Armendariz (12:24.33) in eighth, and Evelyn Peralta (12:31.60) in tenth. Chloe Davis came in eleventh in the event with a time of 12:57.01.

Cerritos

Senna Forkner placed third in the javelin with a distance of 38.17 meters. Teammate Gianna Jacoub finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 35.58 meters.

The Mounties will next compete in the Mt. SAC Relays hosted by El Camino College on Thursday, April 18, in Torrance.
