Mountie Men & Women Track & Field Teams Place 2nd at Sequoias Relays

(Visalia, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's and Women's Track and Field team recently both finished in second place in the annual College of the Sequoias Relays in Visalia. 

The 97-member men's team, with 158 points, were just two points behind winner, Riverside City College (160) and the 58-member women's team (122) finished in second behind RCC. 

Leading the men with two first-place finishes was Alexander Hammond in the long jump and triple jump. The sophomore had a leap of 7.07 meters in the long jump and 14.97 meters in the triple jump. 

Each team took first in a relay, as the men's team of Cavan Bluitt (SO), Gaston Bouchereau (FR), Spencer Danner (SO) and Trevor Reid (FR) ran a first-place time of 41.22 in the 4 x 100 Relay. 

The women also finished first in the same 4 x 100 Relay as the team of Rahmah Baaree (SO), Kieana Butler (SO), Victoria Sandoval (SO) and Joyclyn Arrington (SO) finished in 47.24. 

Both the men and women swept two events in the top few positions. 

The men swept one through five in the Pole Vault with freshman Kyle Beck claiming first with a vault of 16-6 feet. 

The women took the first four positions in the 400-Meter race, with freshman Lenaya Griffin running a time of 56.38 for the win. 

In the men's 400 Hurdles, Jasher Foster (FR) finished ahead of the pack with a time of 54.08. 

And finally, for the women, sophomores Danielle Murietta and Crystal Jardines were 1-2 in the 1,500 with times of 4:50.79 and 4:54.28, respectively.
