Mt. SAC Women’s Tennis improves to 2-0 in SCC with 8-1 win over El Camino

(Torrance, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team won its second consecutive South Coast Conference match with an 8-1 win over host El Camino College on Tuesday, February 27.

With the win, the Mounties evened their record to 3-3 overall.

Mt. SAC won two of the three doubles matches, No. 1 Paige Valenzuela/Julianna Vich, 8-0 and No. 2 Azalia Rodriguez/Emma Cervantes, 9-8 (7-4), while the No. 3 team of Amber Lara/Haley Garcia won by forfeit.

In the singles, No. 1 Valenzuela (6-1, 6-1), No. 2 Sage Youschak (7-5, 6-0), and No. 3 Lara (6-4, 6-4) all won in straight sets, while No. 5 Garcia (3-6, 6-4, 10-7) won in three sets and No. 6 Vich won by forfeit.

No. 4 singles player Joana Cordova-Alva dropped her set, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7).

The Mounties host Antelope Valley College in a non-conference match on Saturday, March 16.
