(Costa Mesa, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team opened the 2023 season on Tuesday (January 31), and was blanked by host Orange Coast College, 9-0, in a non-conference match.
The No. 1 Jayday Drewery and No. 2 Lara Rizkallah singles players lost 2-6, 2-6 and 2-6, 1-6, respectively.
The remaining four singles players also lost in straight sets – No. 3 Ahn Nguyen (0-6, 0-6), No. 4 Azalia Rodriguez (0-6, 4-6), No. 5 Kassandra Gonzales (1-6, 0-6) and No. 6 Ebe Romero (1-7, 6-7).
The three double teams were also swept – No. 1 Drewery/Rizkallah (3-8), No. 2 Nguyen/Rodriguez (3-8) and No. 3 Gonzales/Priscilla Valdez (1-8).
The Mounties continue non-conference action with their home opener against Mt. San Jacinto College on Tuesday (February 14).
