Mt. SAC Women’s Swim Makes a Splash with Big Wins at Chaffey

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Swim Team ruled the pool on Friday, March 20, at Chaffey College, sweeping two matchups with East Los Angeles College and Chaffey College. The Mounties crushed ELAC 226–43 and followed that with a 228–45 victory over Chaffey, showing why they're a force in the water this season.

With 44 total entries, Mt. SAC recorded seven personal bests and six season bests, showing how the team continues to grow stronger and stronger.

Autumn Moya claimed first in the 1000 Free (11:02.75), 500 Free (5:30.00) and 100 Free (57.70), while Megan Medina took second in the 1000 Free (12:52.80) and 100 Fly (1:10.25).

Megan Venegas also had a standout day, winning the 100 IM (1:07.88) and 200 Fly (2:30.47), while Ava Mercado (100 IM, 1:11.34) and Jasmine Matsuda (100 IM, 1:12.24) rounded out the podium.

The sprint events were a showcase of Mountie dominance: Eden Buell swept the 100 Back (1:04.87), 50 Free (26.58), and 200 Back (2:24.72), with teammates Jessica Luna (26.65) and Emily Robertson (27.11) taking second and third respectively in the 50 Free.

Standout Spencer Damaske continues to succeed in all her events, earning first in the 200 Free (2:01.21, PB), 200 Breast (2:28.55), and 200 IM (2:13.05).

The relay teams also added valuable points for the Mounties. Team A captured first in the 400 Free Relay (4:01.71) with Autumn Moya, Ava Mercado, Megan Medina, and Megan Venegas. Team A also took the 200 Medley Relay (1:57.53) with Eden Buell, Spencer Damaske, Emily Robertson, and Jessica Luna.

Kieran Kirkwood Sturzenacker, Sarah Tolmasoff and Keira Bozek contributed several strong podium finishes throughout the meet.

The Mounties will host Long Beach City College in their final conference meet of the season on Friday, March 27, starting at 10:00 AM. Come check out the Mounties swim at home  one last time before they begin to prepare for postseason competition.
