Mt. SAC Women’s Swimming sweeps both Rio Hondo, El Camino in SCC double dual meet

(Whittier, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Swimming and Diving team easily defeated both Rio Hondo (220-44) and El Camino (215-42) colleges in the first South Coast Conference duals of the season held at Rio Hondo Friday (March 3).

The Mounties had first-place finishes in all 15 events against El Camino and Rio Hondo.

In addition, the Mounties swept six of the 13 individual events against Rio Hondo and three of the 13 versus El Camino.

Kelly Jackson, Brianna Solis, and Shauna Mercado led the way for the Mounties with a 1-2-3 finish in the 1-meter diving event.

Topping the women with three firsts was sophomore Melissa Chavez in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and 100 Freestyle.

With two first-place finishes against both Rio Hondo and El Camino in the individual swim meet events were Laila Topinio (500, 1000 Free), Madison Dorsey (200 FR, 200 Individual Medley), Lexis Brattain (100, 200 Back) and Isabel Ortega (100, 200 Butterfly). Parker Damaske won the 50 Free.

The Mounties travel North to San Luis Obispo to compete in the Cuesta College Invitational on Friday and Saturday (March 10, 11).
