Women’s Swimming finishes second at 37th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational

(Walnut, CA) In the first official scoring event at the new Mt. SAC Swim complex, the Mountie women finished second in the 37th Annual Invitational on Friday and Saturday (February 24, 25).

Finishing as the top team out of 17 schools was Sierra College with 852.5 points, followed by the Mounties (744) in second and Santa Monica College (688) in third.

Sophomore Lexis Brattain led the Mounties with second-place finishes in the 50 and 100 Backstroke events, along with a third in the 200 Back.

Sophomore Melissa Chavez finished with a third and fourth in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke, respectively, and a fourth in the 200 Breast.

The Mounties placed third in all three relays – 200 Medley Relay (Brattain, Chavez, Julia De La Garza, Isabell Ortega); 200 Freestyle Relay (Brattain, Parker Damaske, Chavez, Ortega), and the 400 Free Relay (Brattain, Madison Dorsey, Chavez, Ortega).

Mt. SAC opens South Coast Conference action on Friday (March 3) at Rio Hondo College with a double dual meet against the Roadrunners and El Camino.
