Mountie Women Finish Ninth in 34th Annual Mt. SAC Swimming & Diving Invite

(Walnut, CA) With a team score of 151 points, the Mountie Women's Swimming & Diving Team finished ninth in the 34th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational Saturday (2/23).

Orange Coast College won the event for the second year in a row.

The top placer for the Mounties was sophomore Erin DeAnda with a third in the 100 Backstroke (1:04.62) and a fifth in the 200 Back (2:23.44).

DeAnda, who was a top player on the Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo team, swam in six individual events and all four relays.

The Mounties' best finish in the relays was a fifth in the 4x50 Freestyle with a time of 1:50.32 with a team of Colleen Gamboa, Kaitlin Howard, Miranda Silva and DeAnda.

With a combined men's and women's score of 1,191.5 points, the Mounties finished second to OCC with 1,407 points.

The women will compete in the first South Coast Conference meet on Friday (3/1) against El Camino and Cerritos. The three-way meet is at Cerritos College.
