Mt. SAC Women's Soccer finished the regular season with a 4-0 shutout over L.A. Harbor

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Soccer team finished a perfect season in the South Coast Conference North with a 4-0 shutout in a crossover game over visiting L.A. Harbor on Tuesday (Nov. 1).

The Mounties, 9-0 in the conference, were nearly perfect overall with a 17-1 record and are ranked No. 4 in the latest CCCSIA Poll (Oct. 25).

With the shutout win, the Mounties have five of the last six games and 13 for the season and are on a 15-game winning streak.

Leading the Mounties was sophomore midfielder Kaylee Gutierrez with a goal and two assists.

Sophomore defender Fatima Arnold added a goal and an assist and sophomore goalkeeper Leila Peregrina won her 15th game of the season. Peregrina improved her state's third-ranked goals-against average to 0.34. She has six solo shutouts and six combined shutouts for the season, which is second in the state with 12 total.

Arnold started the scoring in the 4th minute, on an assist from Ayuka Toshimoto and Karissa Vela made it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Gutierrez assisted on the goal.

Early in the second half (50th minute), Veronica Aquino scored her third goal (Gutierrez) of the season.

Gutierrez, with her team-leading 16th goal, finished the scoring in the 76th minute on an assist from Arnold. Gutierrez is 10th in the state in goals, while Arnold is second in the state (14th assist) in assists and leads the team.

The SCC post-season tournament begins on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
