Mt. SAC Women's Soccer vs Pasadena

(Walnut, CA) For the first time in six years, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team exploded for eight goals in a game.

And what a perfect time to start the scoring in bunches – during South Coast Conference play. The Mounties scored early and often in the, 8-1, win over Pasadena City College on Tuesday afternoon at Mt. SAC.

Mt. SAC (3-6, 1-1) last scored eight goals in a game in late October 2013, when they shutout El Camino-Compton 8-0.

Leading the Mounties with two goals each was midfielder Britany Serrano and forward Viviana Ortega.

The Mounties took an incredible 24 shots in the game.

Midfielder Liana Sanchez (Taylor Moose asst.) and forward Kin Spencer (unassisted) started the scoring for the Mounties with goals in the 6th and 12th minutes, respectively, for the 2-0 lead.

That was followed by two consecutive goals each by Serrano (13th and 19th minutes) and Ortega (21st and 23rd minutes) for the 6-0 lead. Both of Serrano's goals were unassisted and Spencer assisted on the first Ortega goal.

The Mounties completed the incredible first half with two more goals in the last eight minutes to lead 8-0. Center midfielder Marissa Amaya (Hannah Grady asst.) scored her first goal of the season in the 37th minute, followed by the eighth goal of the half by defender Mildre Obregon (Lesley Perez) in the 41st minute.

The Lancers ended the shutout in the second half with a goal in the 68th minute.

Mt. SAC continues conference action on Friday, October 5th, when they travel to Chaffey College for a 2:00 pm game.
