Women’s Soccer Ends Season with 3-1 Loss to Orange Coast College in So Cal Regionals

(COSTA MESA) The Mt. SAC Women's Soccer team fell to host Orange Coast College, 3-1, Thursday afternoon ending their season in a play-in game in the California Community College Athletics Association, Southern California Regional Championships.

On the season the Mounties finished 7-9-4 overall and were 2-3-3 for third place in the South Coast Conference North.

The Mounties finished the last nine games going 4-3-2 and received a No. 18 seed into the So Cal's.

The Mounties took the early 1-0 lead in the game as sophomore midfielder Samantha Barreto scored in the 11th minute.

Barreto, who finished with five goals on the season, was assisted on the goal by freshman midfielder Hallie Culotti. Cullotti, who led the team in goals, picked up her second assist of the season.

That would be the only goal of the first half as OCC tied the game at, 1-1, in the 52nd minute and took the lead 15 minutes (67 minute) later, 2-1.

The Pirates added an insurance goal for a 3-1 lead in the 72nd minute.

Mt. SAC will lose only five sophomores this year as they have a young team and will have 18 freshmen return.
