(San Luis Obispo, CA) With 186.5 points, seven finalists, and 10 placers, the Mt. San Antonio College Wrestling team took first at the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regionals at Cuesta College on Saturday. Cerritos (167.5 points) and Bakersfield (95.5) finished in second and third place, respectively.
First-place individual finishers for the Mounties included David Seans (133 lbs.), Thomas Chapman (141 lbs.), Juan Lopez (149 lbs.), Wetzel Hill (174 lbs.), and Nate Kendricks (197 lbs.).
Jason Valencia (133 lbs.), Jerry Rubio (157 lbs.), and Isiah Vasquez (165 lbs.) each took second in their respective weight classes for Mt. SAC, while teammates Jesse Garcia (285 lbs.) and Conner Diamond (125 lbs.) finished third in theirs.
Ranked No. 1 in the state and undefeated as a team, the Mounties will next compete in the CCCAA State Championships at Cerritos College on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10 and 11.
