Mt. SAC Women’s Golf Places Second on Day One at OEC Championships

(Chino Hills, CA) With first place in the Orange Empire Conference Women's Golf standings all wrapped up with College of the Desert walking away with the title, two spots remain to be captured.

An individual title will be crowned as Mt. SAC's No. 1 golfer, Presious Saelee, sits atop the leaderboard among 39 players from eight teams. 

Saelee, who has been at or near the top all season, has a 76.3 average after 10 rounds of golf in conference and is ahead of second-place Katie Stribling of Saddleback by one full stroke (77.3).

Saelee was low medalist on the first day of competition in the OEC championships at Los Serranos Country Club Monday (Oct. 28) on the North course, as she shot a two-over-par 76 and Stribling carded a 79.

As a team, COD (329) finished first, followed by Mt. SAC (353) and third-place Saddleback (354).

In addition to an individual title, second place is also up for grabs and the Mounties are one win in the OEC standings behind Saddleback. COD is 69-1, while Saddleback has a 56-14 record and the Mounties are 55-15.

The remaining five Mt. SAC golfers all shot in the 90's with Lisa Romero coming in with a 90, Katherine Chan (93), Cristina Liu (94), Malaysia Thompson (95) and Kima Blake (99).

Day 2 of the OEC Championships takes place Wednesday (Oct. 30) on the South course of the Los Serranos Country Club. A team champion and individual champion will be crowned. 

The top three teams have already secured a spot in the CCCAA So Cal Championships (Nov. 10 & 11) at Via Verde Country Club. Mt. SAC will host the event.
