(San Jacinto, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Golf Team improved its position in week two of the Orange Empire Conference standings with a second place finish on Monday Sept. 9 at Soboba Springs Resort in San Jacinto.
Finishing first for the second week in a row was College of the Desert, with a low round of 314. Mt. SAC finished 22 strokes behind COD with a 336. That was followed by Saddleback (347), Cuyamaca (364), Mt. San Jacinto (388), Palomar (415), 0range Coast College (440) and Fullerton (DNQ).
The low medalist at the par-72 course was Raegan Preece of COD. Mt. SAC was led by Precious Saelee with a four-over-par, 76 (35-41), which was third overall.
Saelee, which has led the Mounties this season, shot a one-under 35 on the first nine holes, which included one birdie, an eagle and five pars. The back nine was highlighted with two birdies and two pars for a five-over 41.
Saelee was followed by teammates Katherine Chan (79), Lisa Romero (89), Cristina Liu (92), Malaysia Thompson (99) and Kima Blake (105).
The Mounties continue with OEC play with Match No. 3 Wednesday Sept. 11 at Royal Vista GC in Walnut and Match No. 4 at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo Monday Sept. 16.
