(Morro Bay, CA) Mt. SAC Women's Golfer Mackenzie Kelly, competing for the second year in a row in the CCCAA State Championships, finished in 24th overall at the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Kelly, representing Mt. SAC as an individual, finished with a two day total of 160 (86, 80).

Winning the team title for the third time was College of the Canyons with a score of 615 on the Par-72, 5,378 yard course.

"I had fun at state and I love going to Morro Bay in general.  It was great to play golf there again," Kelly said.

"There were many girls that played well and I was happy to see someone (Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon - 142) from our conference (Orange Empire Conference), who I played with all season, win first place."

"I made more putts Monday than I did on Sunday and the holes that I birdied were because I made long putts."

Mt. SAC fourth-year women's coach Greg Osbourne was extremely proud of Kelly's accomplishments.

"I'm so happy Mackenzie competed both years for us. She made First Team All-OEC, made it through So Cal's and qualified for state both years."

"Her 3.9 GPA will definitely help her in obtaining her Associates Degree to transfer and finish out her playing career at a fine university."

"She'll always be a respected Mountie and will represent Mt. SAC at the next level of competition. We wish her the best!"

Three of Mackenzie's teammates made the trip to Morro Bay, including Cristina Liu, Brianna Rojo and Andrea Villarino-Uribe to support her.

Said Liu: "I've enjoyed playing with her. She has inspired me to be positive and succeed in qualifying for state like she did."
