Mt. SAC’s Golf Takes 9th Overall at North/South Golf Invitational

(Morro Bay, CA) – Mt. SAC's Mackenzie Kelly shot a 75 on the first day (2nd place)) of the prestigious North-South Women's Invitational Golf Tournament (September 23-24) and finished tied for sixth, among 84 golfers, with a two-day total of 160.  

Overall, the Mounties finished ninth among the 16 teams from Northern and Southern California, shooting 733 (365 & 368) , at the par-72 Morro Bay Golf Course.  College of the Canyons won the event with a score of 630.

"Mackenzie played really well the first day, but wasn't as sharp on the second day," replied Mt. SAC Women's Golf Coach Greg Osbourne.

Kelly, who played the Morro Bay Golf Course last year in the CCCAA State Championships, improved her personal two-day course record of 161, by one stroke. 

Carding an 86-82 for a two-day total of 168 was Cristina Liu.

"Cristina has really improved," Osbourne added. "I am very proud of our team. They are a great bunch of players."

Morro Bay Golf Course will host the CCCAA State Championships on Nov. 12-13 for the fourth straight year.

Mt. SAC will continue with Orange Empire Conference play next Monday, October 1st, with match No. 4 at El Prado Golf Course in Chino.
