(Morro Bay, CA) Mt. SAC freshman golfer Mackenzie Kelly, who completed a very successful season for the Mounties, placed 19th in the just completed California Community College Athletic Association State Championships at the Morro Bay Golf Course Monday.

Kelly, who placed 10th in the So Cal Regionals last week to qualify for state, shot an 80 on the first day on the Par 72, 5,378 yard course. On the second day in the shotgun start, Kelly carded an 81 for a two-day 161 total, which was just under her conference average of 82.2 for the season.

"From the time I met Mackenzie a year ago to right now, the difference is day and night in her improvement," Mt. SAC Women's Golf coach Greg Osbourne said. "It's unbelievable."

Fifty-eight golfers from 18 colleges competed in the two-day, 36-hole medal play event.

Modesto College won the team title while the low medalist was Nao Bando of Sierra College with a 3-under-Par 141.
