Women's Basketball rolls to SCC North win over Rio Hondo, extends win streak to 14

(Whittier, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (21-3, 6-0) dominated host Rio Hondo College (10-14, 2-4) in a South Coast Conference North Division game on Wednesday, Feb. 9, coming away with an 87-45 victory. The win is the Mounties' fourteenth in a row.

Briana Lizardi led all players with 20 points off the bench for Mt. SAC as teammates Allyah Cartajena (15 points), Mina Guevara-Goss (12), and Savanna Norfleet (11) rounded out the team's double-digit scoring. Skylarr Little grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

The Mounties outplayed the Roadrunners in several key team categories, including rebounds (62-26), second-chance points (15-0), and points in the paint (42-18). Mt. SAC also outscored Rio Hondo's bench, 46-18.

The most recent California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association Polls rank the Mounties at No. 3 in the state and No. 2 in the South Region.

Mt. SAC will host Los Angeles Trade-Tech (9-14, 0-5) in an SCC North game on Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. The Mounties defeated the Beavers, 64-58, on Jan. 26.
