Win streak reaches eight as Women's Basketball defeats Pasadena to open SCC North schedule

(Walnut, CA) Behind a team-high 22 points from Allyah Cartajena, Mt. San Antonio (15-3, 1-0) opened its South Coast Conference North Division schedule with a 67-52 victory against visiting Pasadena City College (7-7, 0-1) to run its win streak to eight.

Other top scorers for the Mounties included Savanna Norfleet (nine points), Nikki Thompson (eight), Briana Lizardi (seven), and Kamesha Moore (seven). Cartajena also led all players in rebounds with nine, as Lizardi grabbed seven.

Mt. SAC dominated the Lancers in several team categories, including rebounding (44-30), points in the paint (32-16), and bench scoring (28-7).

Pasadena's Lupe Vazquez led all players with 28 points.

Ranked No. 2 in the Jan. 17 California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association South Region Poll, the Mounties will host Rio Hondo College (7-11, 0-1) in an SCC North matchup on Friday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.
