Mt. SAC erases halftime deficit with big second half against Chaffey, extends win streak to three

(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) Mt. SAC (16-5, 2-0) ran its win streak to three with a 71-51 South Coast Conference North Division win over Chaffey (5-12, 0-2) on Friday night. The win is also the teams eighth in its last nine.

Trailing 31-27 at halftime, the Mounties doubled their first-half output with 54 points in the second half while holding Chaffey to 20.

Natalia Shpegel led the Mounties with 16 points while teammates Tiana Douglas and Lauryn Manns added 14 and 13, respectively. Douglas also led the team with seven rebounds. Shpegel and Manns grabbed six boards each. Jade Hughes blocked five shots for the Mounties and pitched in with nine points.

Chaffey's Gytonne Everett led all players with 18 points.

Mt. SAC returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at East Los Angeles (19-4, 2-0) in an SCC North Division matchup. The Huskies have won nine straight and are currently ranked No. 4 in the state. The Mounties are currently ranked No. 10.
