Mountie Women's Basketball Wins Fullerton Tournament Over Host Fullerton, 65-55

(Fullerton, CA) Behind Aujanae Mayes' 13 points off the bench and 12 points each from Alexis Sanchez, Jade Hughes and Tiana Douglas, Mt. SAC (12-4) defeated host Fullerton, 65-55, to capture the Colleen Riley Holiday Invitational championship on Saturday at Fullerton College.

The Mounties captured the lead, 12-11, on a pair of free throws by Lauryn Manns with 2:26 to go in the first quarter and never surrendered the lead again. Manns finished with eight points and six rebounds. Douglas led Mt. SAC with seven boards.

Tristian Johns and Moriah Serrano led Fullerton (8-6) with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Mt. SAC shot 52.3 percent from the field as a team and tallied 12 steals and five blocked shots, three of which were by Douglas.

The Mounties have won four straight and six of their last seven and will return to action against defending state champion Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.
