Mt. SAC Women’s Basketball Advances to Ventura Tourney Semi’s; Defeat Laney 75-45

(Ventura, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Team, led by a game-high 18 points from guard Natalia Shpegel, easily defeated Laney College, 75-45 in the opening game of the 21st Annual Kiwanis Ventura College Tournament of Champions on Friday (11/23).

The Mounties (3-1) now advance to the semifinals on Saturday (11/24) and play College of the Canyons at 5:00 pm.

Shpegel, who had her biggest scoring game of the early season, also had six rebounds, three steals and was nearly perfect from the charity stripe, going 7 for 8.

Also in double figures with 10 points was Kiara Stiger (4-6 FGM, 2-2 FTM, 4 RB, 2 Stl.) and three other players with eight points – Aujanae Mayes (2-2 FGM, 4-8 FTM, 4 RB, 5 Stl.), Jade Hughes (4-6 FTM, 4 RB, 3 Blk.) and Tiana Douglas (2-2 FTM, game high 14 RB ).

The Mounties only allowed 17 points in the first half while scoring 43, for the overwhelming 26 point lead.
