Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Softball Team added another win to their record with a 5-2 victory over East Los Angeles College on Friday, February 6, now sitting at 6-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in South Coast Conference action. Meanwhile, ELAC falls to 6-2 overall and 0-2 in SCC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in each of the first two innings. Amanda Porterfield lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Sarai Raygoza in the first, and Isabella Aspeitia followed with a productive groundout in the second to score Sophia Avina and give Mt. SAC an early 2–0 lead.

ELAC made things interesting in the fourth when Ava Sanchez launched a two-run homer to tie the game at 2–2, setting up a tight battle down the stretch.

Mt. SAC responded right away. In the bottom of the fifth, Emily Sandoval crushed a two-run home run, scoring Porterfield and putting the Mounties back on top, 4–2. Aspeitia put an exclamation point on the win in the sixth inning, stealing home to cap the scoring at 5–2.

In the circle, Zoe Herford was locked in from start to finish. The right-hander went the distance, facing 26 batters over seven innings while allowing just three hits and two earned runs. Herford walked three and struck out nine in a standout performance for the Mounties.
