Silvas Pitches a Perfect Game; Mt. SAC Softball Defeats ELAC, 8-0

Alexia Silvas throw No-Hitter

(Walnut, CA) Fifteen up, fifteen down! Mt. SAC sophomore pitcher Alexia Silvas pitched the first perfect game for the Mounties in years with an 8 - 0 five-inning win over visiting East Los Angeles College in South Coast Conference action Friday (Feb. 21).

With the win, the Mounties kept their season-opening winning streak alive; reaching 12 wins overall and 6-0 in conference.

Silvas, who struck out five batters, recorded her second no-hitter in the last three games and improved to 4-0.

"Lex (Alexia Silvas) has been working extremely hard and Friday's performance was a result of that," Mt. SAC Softball coach Alex Mascarenes said. "She threw a no-hitter against Palomar and then she came out and her next start followed it up with the perfect game."

"It was a special night and was fun to be a part of. The streak is great, but we are more focused on getting better every day. We focus on the small details and trust each other."

Leading the way for the Mounties was freshman left fielder Alexis Lujan (2 for 2, RBI, SB) and shortstop Quinn De Avila (1-2, R, 3 RBIs, 3B, Sac Fly).

De Avila had the big blow in the bottom of the fifth with a bases-clearing triple, scoring Alyssa Martinez (1-2, 2 Runs), Megan Jones (1-2, 2 Runs) and Alexis Lemus (1-3, R). Baylee Ledesma (1-3, 2 RBIs) singled to left field, scoring De Avila for the eighth run to end the game.

The Mounties host Rio Hondo Tuesday (Feb. 25) for a SCC game at 3:00 pm.
