Mt. SAC Softball Wins Seventh Consecutive Game, Defeats LBCC, 11-3

(Long Beach, CA) For the second time in the past four years, the Mt. SAC Softball Team has started the season with a winning streak to start the season.

After an 11-3 South Coast Conference win over host Long Beach City College, the Mounties improved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in conference.

In 2017, Mt. SAC started the season with an amazing 20-game winning streak.

This season, the Mounties have scored 93 runs, (13 runs per gm. avg.), have a team batting average of .459 (No. 1 in state) and 11 home runs (second in state).

Leading the way for the Mounties was shortstop Quinn De Avila (3-3, R, RBI) and center fielder Nicole Siess (2-4, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs).

Also collecting two hits each was catcher Alyssa Martinez (2-3, R) and third baseman Charleen Macias (2-5).

Sophomore pitcher Alexia Silvas (3-0) went five innings, allowed just two hits and struck out four.

Leading 2-0 in the third inning, the Mounties scored four runs in the fifth and five runs in the seventh innings to put the game away. Siess had the big blow in the fifth inning with a two-run triple to lead, 6-0.

Siess, with four multiple hit games, leads the team with a .609 batting average (20th in state), 14 RBIs, 14 hits and 10 runs scored.

The Mounties continue SCC play with a game at El Camino College Thursday (Feb. 13) at 3 p.m.
