Mt. SAC runs win streak to 10 with shutout at Rio Hondo

(Whittier, CA) Mt. SAC (10-1, 5-0) scored all of its runs by the end of the second inning, then coasted to an 11-0 South Coast Conference North Division win in five innings, at Rio Hondo (2-12-1, 0-7) on Tuesday afternoon.

Ciara Granado had three RBIs for the Mounties, going 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Teammate Jessika Trujillo also went 2-for-2, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Adriana Ramirez led Mt. SAC with four RBIs, on 2-for-2 hitting, with a double. Vicky Gutierrez also played well offensively for the visitors, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Candace Haliburton, Quinn De Avila, Ally Longtree and Ramirez each had a stolen base for the Mounties.

Starting pitcher Brianna Wheeler (1-0) got the win, throwing two innings, striking out three and allowing no hits. Relievers Zoe Brewer (2 IP, 3 K, 0 H) and Alexia Silvas (1 IP) combined to keep the Roadrunners scoreless down the stretch.

The state's 4th ranked team has now won 10 straight and will host Pasadena (8-4, 5-1) in an SCC North matchup on Thursday, February 28th at 3 p.m.
