Second Season Begins Friday; No. 2 Seed Mt. SAC Softball to Host Fullerton on Friday in Regional Round 1

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Softball Team, which recently won back-to-back South Coast Conference titles, received the Southern California Regional No. 2 seed and will host Fullerton on Friday May 4 in game one of a best of three series.

Game one, scheduled for Friday at 7:00 pm with game two Saturday at 2:00 pm and a third game, if necessary, is at 4:00 pm.

Fullerton is seeded No. 15 (25-16) and finished tied for fourth in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Hornets won a play-in game over Long Beach City College 4-1 on Tuesday to advance to Friday's Regional game.

The Mounties, who advanced to the CCCAA championship game last season, finished with 33-7 overall record.

Mt. SAC have won four state titles in 2003, '05, '07, '09 and will aim to advance to their 12th state championships beginning May 17, which will be hosted at Mt. San Antonio College.

Recently announced CCCAA All-State selections, Carissa Felix and Briana Wheeler lead the Mounties with the bat and in the circle.

Felix, a shortstop for the , was named to the All-State team, just like her sister Celina Felix (Player of the Year) was in 2015. In addition, selected to the All-State team was freshman pitcher Briana Wheeler.

Michelle Banales, was named to the All-Southern California team.

The Mounties, who have won 14 of their last 17 games, which included five 8-run rule victories.

The winner of the three -game series will advance to the CCCAA Super Regionals beginning next weekend, May 11-13.
