(Walnut, CA) The early-season winning continues for the Mt. SAC Softball team as they extended their winning streak to eight games, with a two home game sweep of Riverside City College (RCC) and Sierra College, 6-5 and 9-5.

Shortstop Carissa Felix had a "Saturday Slugfest", banging out six hits for the Mounties, which included two doubles, a home run and four RBIs.

"This team is young and they are learning," replied Mt. SAC Head Coach Ruby Rojas. "The fun part is watching them grow (this season)."

Rojas, in her sixth season as head coach, continues to insert different combinations of players in the Mountie lineup through the first 10 games.

"I believe in all of my kids," Rojas said. "It doesn't matter who starts or who finishes. They are learning to get it done.

"What better opportunity to develop depth in your lineup than by giving them a chance when they are hungry."

Mt. SAC 6, RCC 5

In the first game against RCC, Ericka Tiscareno (2-0) picked up her second win of the season in relief, with the Mounties scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth for the 6-5 lead and the winning run.

Tiscareno allowed only one hit and struck out two in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Highlighting the four-run second inning was a two-run double by first baseman Ciara Granado (1 for 3, 2 RBI) which scored Felix (3-4, R 2 RBIs) and left fielder Jada Reyes (1-3, R, RBI) for the 4-0 lead.

With the game tied 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth, Felix singled to left field, scoring pinch runner Nikki Soto, who ran for designated player Michelle Santiago (1-2, R, BB), for the go-ahead run to lead 6-5.

Ranked 4th in the 3CFCA poll, the Mounties started pitcher Briana Wheeler who went 5 1/3 innings and struck out six before being relieved by Tiscareno.

Mt. SAC 9, Sierra College 5

In the win over second ranked Sierra College, pitcher Jessica Olvera (2-1) captured her second win of the season with a complete-game performance, scattering five runs on six hits and striking out two.

With the score tied 5-5 in the fourth inning, Felix homered and first baseman Michelle Banales (2-2, 2 R, 4 RBIs, HR, Dbl.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring right fielder Alissa Perez (1-1, 2 R, BB) to lead 7-5.

In the bottom of the sixth the Mounties extended the lead to 9-5 after Banales connected for a two-run homer, scoring Perez.
