Several Mounties turn in solid performances at season-opening Mark Covert Classic

(Fullerton, CA) At the Mark Covert Classic at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Fullerton on Saturday, Mt. SAC opened its 2021 season by placing fourth as a team in the open competition with 104 points and seventh in the invite field with 208 points.

In the open race, Yair Torres placed sixth in a field of 77 with a time of 26:37.2 for the Mounties, as teammate Joshua Llamas came in 18th place at 27:31.8.

In a field of 157 runners, Daniel Abdala (25:25.7) and Jesse Alvarado (25:30.3) finished in 15th and 18th, respectively, in the invite race for Mt. SAC.

The Mounties will compete in the Oxnard Invite at Oxnard College on Friday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m.
