Strong Performances Lead Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country to Second-Place Finish at SoCal Preview Meet

(San Diego, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Team compiled 56 points to place second in the 2019 SoCal Preview Meet at Mission Park in San Diego on Friday. San Diego Mesa took first place with 52 points, while American River finished third with 93 points.

In the meet's overflow field, the Mounties took first place with 37 points, and American River and San Diego Mesa took second and third with 48 and 61 points, respectively.

Isaiah Wilson was the top runner for Mt. SAC, placing fifth in a field of 205 runners with a time of 21:33.6 as teammate Daniel Abdala came in sixth with a time of 21:38.8.

Zackary Alexander (21:42.0, ninth place) and Lorenzo Orozco (21:47.1, 11th) rounded out the Mounties with top-20 finishes in the main race.

Mt. SAC overflow race runners with top-10 finishes included Bryce Butler (22:19.2, third place), Zachariah Budd (22:47.2, fifth), Drake Maloney (22:57.6, seventh), and Joshua Potts (23:07.3, 10th).

The first edition of the 5CTCA Cross Country Rankings were released on Friday and the Mounties are ranked second behind San Diego Mesa in both the State and Southern California polls.

Mt. SAC will next compete in the Golden West Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach on Friday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m.
