Mounties fall to L.A. Valley and Occidental; Host their 47th Annual Tourney Friday, Saturday (Sept. 17, 18)

(Los Angeles, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo team continued its tough early-season non-conference schedule with a split doubleheader Wednesday (Sept. 15) at L.A. Valley and at Occidental.

The Mounties lost to L.A. Valley, 12-8, in the afternoon and in an evening exhibition game at Occidental College they fell to the Tigers, 15-6.

Mt. SAC (0-8) was led by freshman utility Luke Noblett with four goals on the day, followed by Kyle Kurtz and Trevor Ingersoll with three each.

Kurtz and Ingersoll led the Mounties with two goals each in the loss to the Monarchs (2-3).

Freshman driver Diego Lopez and freshman utility Adam Dow each scored in the first period, as the Mounties trailed, 4-2.

Valley scored three goals in the second, while the Mounties were shut out and trailed 7-2 at the half.

The Mounties tallied six goals in the second half, with Kurtz and Ingersoll scoring two goals each.

Goalie Kyle Leimbach had 12 saves in the game for the Mounties.

Occidental 15, Mt. SAC 6

Noblett led the way in the exhibition night game with three goals for the Mounties.

Also scoring for Mt. SAC was Kurtz, Ingersoll, and Ivan Morales with single goals, while Mt. SAC freshman goalie Noah Stark made 10 saves.

Mt. SAC will host the 47th Annual Water Polo Tournament at Marie T. Mills Aquatic Center this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 17, 18) with 12 teams competing.

The Mounties open up with two games on Friday against Santa Monica (7:40 am) and Fullerton (3:50 pm).
