(Norwalk, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team came oh so close to advancing to the South Coast Conference Championship game on Saturday, but eventually fell to Cerritos College, 5-4 on Thursday in a semifinal game at Cerritos College.

The Mounties (21-8) defeated El Camino earlier in the day, 11-10 in overtime to advance to the semifinal against Cerritos.

"That was a tough one," said Mt. SAC Water Polo coach Marc Ruh, referring to the one-goal setback to Cerritos. The Mounties will play Chaffey College for third place on Saturday November 3. Game time is set for 1:30 pm at Cerritos College.

With forty nine seconds left, driver Christian Lopez took a pass from goalie Jake Simmons and gave Mt. SAC an 11-10 lead. The Warriors had the ball with twenty seconds left and a chance to tie the game, but driver Aidan O'Neill stole the ball and the Mounties ran out the clock for the win.

Utility Jarrett Barker and center Noah Brokaw each scored three goals for the Mounties, while Lopez added two scores. Three players – attacker Edgar Cueva, O'Neill and Brokaw – had three steals each.
