Mt. SAC Men's Track places in several events at Ben Brown Invite

(Fullerton, CA) In a field of 24 teams that included community colleges and four-year universities, three athletes from the Mt. San Antonio College Men's Track and Field team turned in top-three performances at the Ben Brown Invitational/AstroAI Distance Classic at Cal State Fullerton on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11.

Clearing a height of 2.1 meters, Marcus Monroe Jr took first in the high jump for the Mounties as the squad of Nick Felix, Nicholas Vargas, Thomas Scrofano, and Kerry Smith Jr finished second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:16.65. In addition, Smith placed third in the 200-meter, clocking in at 21.23 seconds.

Meanwhile, 35 miles away, Mt. SAC athletes also competed in the Occidental College Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic on Saturday. In a field of more than 40 teams, the top performance turned in by a Mountie was Johnathon Zavala who finished 12th in 5000 meters with a time of 14:31.99.
