Men's Track & Field opens season by dominating the SCC Opener

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. San Antonio College Men's Track and Field Team launched its 2022 season by participating in the South Coast Conference Opener held at Mt. SAC on Friday, Feb. 4.

Mountie athletes dominated a variety of events, including the 60-meter run, 300-meter run, 800-meter run, and pole vault, to name a few. Ilias Garcia highlighted the meet by breaking the Mountie record in the 60-meter (6.45), previously held by Olympian Cravon Gillespie.

Of the meet's 19 events, Mt. SAC athletes took first place in 14 of them, second place in 15, and third place in eight. Notably, Mountie athletes occupied the top seven spots in the 60-meter run, eight of the top nine spots in the 300-meter run, and the top seven spots in the pole vault.

Mt. SAC will participate in the RCC Six-way Meet on Friday, Feb. 11, at Riverside City College.
