Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field Takes Second at State Championships

(San Mateo, CA) With 73 team points, the Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field team took second place at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Track and Field State Championships, at College of San Mateo, on Friday and Saturday. Riverside finished first with 116 points, while American River came in third with 61 points.  

The Mounties produced two individual champions in Christopher Weiland (1,500 meters - 3:56.07) and Salvador Capetillo (10,000 meters - 31:3-.15).  Capetillo also took second in the 5,000 meters (15:13.72), while Weiland also took third in the 5,000 meters (15:18.49).  

Additional Mounties who placed top five in their respective event(s):

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Colby Penn placed second at 9:29.21.

Shallamar Poole's leap of ' 6'04"3/4 (1.95M) was good enough to tie for second in the high jump.

Andrew Aguilar finished third in the decathlon with 6,014 points.

Leroy Williams IV took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.85 seconds.

Isaiah Wilson placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.21.

Clearing a height of 15'01" (4.60M), Nathaniel Carranza finished fifth in the pole vault.
