Sprint Coach John Bolton Returns To Mounties

Sprint Coach John Bolton returns back to join the Mt. SAC Track and Field Staff.

(Walnut, CA) Sprint Coach John (JB) Bolton will return back to Mt. SAC, after spending one season at Cerritos College.  Prior to Cerritos College, Bolton spent the five previous seasons at Mt. SAC where he developed a sprint program that produced the likes of future PAC-12 Champions/NCAA DI All-Americans Cravon Gillespie and Kyree King, both of whom continued their illustrious careers at the University of Oregon.  Along with Gillespie (100M-2016, 200M-2016), he has also guided Sarah Dunmore (100M-2014, 200M-2014), Lenaya Griffin (400M-2018), Tatyana Pooler (200M-2018) and Tubotein Taylor (400M-2016) to individual state championships.  He has also guided an amazing nine Mountie relay teams to state championships.

"It's an honor and privilege to be back at Mt. SAC," replied Bolton.  "Mt. SAC has such long tradition and history of winning and I am humbled to once again work with Coach Kamaka, Coach Lanaro and the staff."

This season, Bolton turned around the Cerritos College Sprint Program, leading 11 individuals and four relay squads to the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships.  He was was named the South Coast Conference Assistant Coach of the Year, an honor he has captured 2 other times with the Mounties. 

"We are excited to have JB back as our sprint coach," said Head Women's Track & Field Coach, Giovanni Lanaro.  "Wherever he has been, he has made a tremendous impact on the program and their success."

"JB's proven experience and knowledge of the sprints will be a great addition to our program," replied Head Men's Track & Field Coach, Ron Kamaka.  "Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from his teaching and his work ethic."
