(Monterey Park, CA) After a grueling three days of swimming, the Mt. SAC Men's Swim came back from the CCCAA State Championships (May 5-7) at East Los Angeles College with a 10th place finish and a wealth of experience for the young team.
Leading the way for the 8-member state qualifiers for the Mounties was freshman Isaiah Huerta, who was the highest placer, finishing fifth in the mile swim. He also competed in the 50 Freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley.
Matthew Neoh competed in three events, finishing ninth in the 200 Backstroke and 12th in the 100 Butterfly. He also swam in the 50 Free.
Forty-nine colleges from up and down the state competed, with Sierra College winning its third state title, easily outpointing second-place Orange Coast College.
"Everyone swam very well," Mt. SAC Swim Coach Marc Ruh said. "Most improved their times. The meet is a grind with some of the men swimming 13 races in three days.
"None of our swimmers have ever had to do that before, so it was a great experience, with most returning next year and will be great leaders for next year's teams."
Connor Rias picked up points and finished 14th in the grueling mile swim. He also swam in two other events – the 200 and 500 Free.

- Spencer Sorosky – 100 and 200 Breaststroke
- Logan Morales – 100 Butterfly
- Maximus Sandoval – 1-Meter Diving
