(Pasadena, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Swimming & Diving Team is on a major roll, as they easily defeated host Pasadena City College, 230-48 Friday (3/29) in a South Coast Conference dual meet.

The Mounties (7-0) finished their dual season as undefeated champions for the seventh time in the last nine years. All of those championships were also undefeated seasons by the Mounties.

And they accomplished the feat with a flourish, winning all 15 events, which included six 1-2-3 sweeps.

"They swam very well (Friday)," Mt. SAC Swimming & Diving Head Coach Marc Ruh said.

"It is always exciting to accomplish this part of the championship. We love dual meets and the team really did a great job getting that title back. Our sophomores knew it was important to get that back in Mountie hands."

PCC won the dual title last season, ending a five-year dual title streak by Mt. SAC.

"The more important championship would be the next one, which is the conference championship meet," Ruh added.  "All seven teams, racing for three days for the South Coast Conference Championship and it will be at Mt. SAC."

"That will be followed by the state championships two weeks later (May 2-4) at De Anza College in Cupertino. That one is for all the marbles and the team really wants to improve on last years' finish."

Leading the charge again was Jonathan Olvera, Ethan Trieu and Jason Harary with three individual wins and a relay. Olvera was a member of the winning 400 Freestyle Relay team (3:21.67), which also consisted of Zachary Anaya, Jason Willman and Edgar Cueva.

Olvera won both distance races – the 1000 Free (10:04.29) and 500 Meter Free (4:55.75) and the 200 Butterfly (1:55.51).

Trieu won the 50 Free (21.80), 200 Free (1:47.10) and the 200 Backstroke (1:57.37) as well as swimming the first leg of the 200 Medley Relay, which also included Ryan Lin, Harary and Vinny Edwards.

Harary won the 100 Free (48.57), 100 Fly (52.17) and the 100 Breaststroke (59.16).

Winning two events was William Ku in the 100 Back (57.01) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:04.30).

Lin won the 200 Breast with a time of 2:11.

Andrew Chavez won the 1-Meter Diving with a score of 179.30.

The Mounties will next swim in the Pasadena CC Invite April 4-6.
